2) New Class: "Next Generation" Sport Mods (ages 12-17)

Atomic Speedway and Jackson County Speedway getting the kids involved for 2019 season with new NEXT GENERATION Sport Mods class for kids ages 12-17 presented by Mark Frazier CPA & Associates.

After discussions with a few parents who are wanting to get their kids started in racing we have decided that we will do so in 2019. Atomic Speedway and Jackson County Owner/Promoter Brad McCown said he has decided to create a new class just for kids ages 12-17 years old called the NEXT GENERATION Sport Mods. Kids with racing experience will be able to race right away in the new class. Most of these races will be schedule on regular racing nights that the C M Racing Equipment Sport Mod class also race and kids without any racing experience can practice on Sunday mornings until the driver, parents and track officials all agree the child is ready for weekly race night competition. This will also allow for parents and crew members who may be inexperienced to gain knowledge also as we will ask some veteran racers to help on Sunday’s with info and guidance for these new race teams.

One question asked was do we need to add another class?? To answer that... no we don’t but “kids are the future of this sport” said McCown.

He also stated that this classes feature will be the last one of the night with a 10 lap or 15 minute time limit. And the heat race will be 6 laps or 10 minutes just before the A main Features start for the evening.

Cars will follow the exact same rules as the C-M Racing Equipment Sport Mods with a few exceptions: 1. No racing in both Sport Mod and NEW GENERATION Sport Mod classes the same night 2. Once a driver moves to the Regular Sport Mod class they must stay there the remainder of the season. 3. No qualifying 4. Pill draw for starting spots in heats 5. 6 lap heat races or 10 minutes 6. 10 lap feature or 15 minutes 7. Tire rule M30 all 4 corners

Special thanks to Mark and Cheryl Frazier for no hesitation in helping along with all others who planted the seed in my head to make this happen. We are truly excited for NEXT GENERATION of racers at Atomic Speedway!

3) Bigger and Better Weekly Purses for 2019!

4) Atomic signs on with DIRTcar to sanction UMP Modifieds in 2019

After already adapting the UMP style tire rule in 2018 with great success Atomic Speedway and Jackson County Speedway Owner/Promoter Brad McCown said the decision was pretty simple when approached by Sam Driggers from Dirtcar. Sam and I both want to see a weekly series in Ohio and the Region and adding Atomic Speedway and Jackson County Speedway to the great list of Ohio tracks already under the UMP sanctions only makes Ohio Modified racing even stronger for the future. More info to come in the following weeks.
