Dover entered the Speedy Bill Smith Memorial Nebraska 360 Sprints event at I-80 Speedway with high expectations. Dover had maneuvered from fifth to second place in a heat race when the wing slider handle broke and he drove into the infield with two laps remaining and was credited with a DNF. That relegated him to the 20th starting position for the Speedy Bill Smith Memorial A-Main. “I had the mindset that I was going to win,” he said. “I said that in the middle of last week. I was ready to get a win and get after it.” Dover caught a few breaks during the 24-lap main event. “The yellows played out perfect for us that night,” he said. “We slowly worked up to 12th and a yellow came out. We got up to 10th and a yellow came out. We got up to fourth and a yellow came out with five laps to go. “On the restart we went to the bottom and everyone else went to the top. We got up to third and came back to turns one and two. I got up to second and was reeling in the leader, but I missed my marks with two laps to go. I told myself I had to hit my marks to win this. I did in turns three and four and again in turns one and two after we took the white flag. I did it perfect and got him coming out of turn two on the last lap.” Dover charged from 20th to capture his eighth triumph of the season thanks to a last-lap pass in his EAGLE.

Jason Martin put on a driving clinic at Eagle Raceway in the RaceSaver division a night after being one of the fastest 360’s at I-80 Speedway. Starting in his usual 12th position, the Hitman allowed the dust to begin to blow before making his charge to the front. Methodically using a middle grove in 1-2 he continued his charge forward to win the last regular show prior to the RaceSaver Nationals this week.

Gregg Bakker picked up his second Midwest Sprint Touring Series triumph at Jackson Motorplex this season driving his SCHNEE. With the last race weekend for the track coming this weekend, Gregg is surely a favorite to cap off the season.

A night after picking up his first POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprints win of 2017, Terry Babb made it two in a row winning Saturday night at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Missouri. Babb gained momentum running the top and eventually would get by the leader in stunning fashion. He would go on to take his second win of 2017 in the KCBJ Motorsports/Faith Flat Out Ministries EAGLE.

After multiple runner ups and a consistent run on the podium, 16 years young Paulie Colagiovanni drove a flawless 25 laps to beat two veterans in the Empire Super Sprints series at Autodrome Granby. Traveling North of the border the #10 EAGLE was stuck from the get go as Paulie bolted to the lead and hung on for the win. Steve Poirier, a seven-time champion of the ESS Series, lead all 25 laps at Le RPM Speedway to grab a second win of the season with the tour. Starting from the pole Steve picked up career win # 65 as Colagiovanni earned the third position. The two drivers swapped positions from the previous night’s racing. Both in EAGLE cars.

Withstanding persistent pressure from his summer landlord, Tony Stewart, California’s Rico Abreu earned his place in All Star Circuit of Champions victory lane on Friday evening at Atomic Speedway, capturing the Open Wheel Championships preliminary victory worth $5,000 over a field of 46 entries. The Arctic Cat All Star triumph was the seventh of Abreu’s impressive career; his first-ever at the Atomic Speedway high banks.

Mark Dobmeier did the usual at River Cities Speedway…Won the feature. The leading all time feature winner at the track took home a win on Friday in his familiar Grinch Racing #13 EAGLE.
